Cupping

Dr. Pillari also offers cupping therapy. Cupping is a therapeutic practice that has been used across cultures and disciplines since ancient times. Cupping involves creating a vacuum force beneath a “cup” and applying it to the skin. Cupping is thought to stimulate blood flow and metabolic activity and to improve immune function. Most patients find cupping to be an enjoyable experience, similar to that of a deep-tissue massage. Oftentimes, Dr. Pillari will combine the use of laser therapy while you are resting with cups applied.

the body is capable of healing itself when it is functioning properly.

  • No! While chiropractic has been shown to help with conditions of the spine, traditional chiropractic training is focused on all the joints of the body–ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and fingers and toes!  Chiropractors have extensive training in the functions and structures of the nervous system, and are experts in anatomy and physiology. Beyond chiropractic school, Dr. Pillari has received specialized training in kinesiology and pediatric and perinatal care.

In addition to joint care, chiropractors are primary care providers, a role which Dr. Pillari takes seriously. Being a primary care provider means that patients can come directly to a chiropractor, without the need for screening and referral from another doctor. As such, Dr. Pillari is trained to be able to determine if chiropractic care is the appropriate path for your complaint, or if you need to see another provider to address your concerns.

  • Simply put, because they are alive. Dr. Pillari thinks that the pediatric period is actually the most important time for care. The field of chiropractic is heavily based in the study of the nervous system, and the rate at which the nervous system is growing and adapting as an embryo becomes an infant and an infant becomes a child, is astonishing. So to support the development of the nervous system, is to support the development of the child, ultimately leading to a better-functioning adult. It is always better to be able to correct problems before they occur and to bolster optimal development, rather than trying to correct issues later and play catch up, so when it comes to the development of something as critical as your child’s nervous system, getting them checked by a pediatric chiropractor regularly is advised.

  • Adjustments should be comfortable. Sometimes there is some mild soreness following an adjustment, but it should resolve within a day. Most of the time, patients feel an immediate sense of relief and release from adjustments.
